On Wednesday, the Daily Free Press published it's annual hockey supplement. After many phone calls, shifting of dates and not much sleep, the final product turned out to be one of the projects I am most proud of being involved with. Working with Sports Editor and hockey beat writer John Barone and former Sports Editor Nick Cammarota, I helped produce an 8-page introduction to this year's hockey team in a little over two days - shooting photos and all. I was in charge of the photos and graphics for the supplement - a position that brought challenge after challenge, to the point that I almost doubted how it was all going to get done.
Shown are pictures of Freshmen goalies Grant Rollheiser (35) and Kieran Millan (31) at Agganis Arena, Boston, MA shot for a story about the competition for the starting spot in goal. We shot the photos on Columbus Day and the lights in the arena couldn't be turned on because the staff was off for the holiday. Instead, myself and a friend, Sarah, set up strobes in the dark, did test shots, and hoped for the best. In the end, I couldn't be happier with how the photos and the supplement as a whole turned out.
